  • 1 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup salted butter - chunked cold
  • 3-4 tablespoons ice cold water - add water and mix until dough pulls together
  • For Filling:
  • 4 pears - peeled cored and sliced
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 4 tablespoons walnut pieces
  • 1 tablespoon warmed honey - for on top after cooking

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 F.
  • Mix together your walnut pieces, flour, sugar and salt.
  • Add cold butter chunks to the flour mixture and cut in with a pastry cutter, fork or your hands until pea or larger sized butter pieces are found.
  • Add in the cold water as you mix until dough comes together into a ball.
  • Roll out dough into a large circle or rectangle (personal preference on the shape) and lay on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet.
  • Add sliced pears to the middle of the dough, sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg and walnut pieces.
  • Fold up the sides of the dough around the pears but leaving the most part of the center area of the pears exposed.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes or until dough gets slightly golden or feels cooked when pressed on.
  • Remove from the oven and drizzle with warm honey.
  • Enjoy!
