Ingredients
For the air fried potatoes:
4russet potatoes or 6 red potatoes - sliced into fries
Spritz of olive oil
sprinkle of salt
For the gravy:
2tablespoonssalted butter
1tablespoonflour
14ouncesbeef broth
14ounceschicken broth
1/8teaspoonblack pepper
1/2teaspoonsalt
2tablespoonsmilk of choice
2tablespoonscornstarch
1/8teaspoondried thymeoptional
1/8teaspoondried rosemaryoptional
Toppings:
1cupor 8 ounces white cheddar cheese curds or mozzarella if you can't find cheese curds
Frozen popcorn chicken - optional
Instructions
Slice potatoes, skins left on, into preferred French fry size.
Spritz each side of the potato with olive oil or oil of choice.
Bake in air fryer for 25 minutes on 400 F. stopping mid-way through and tossing a little so the potatoes in the middle get browned. Continue cooking until done. Sprinkle with salt immediately after they finish cooking.
If you are baking the fries in the oven, bake 425 F. for 25 minutes, turning over mid-way through.
To 'make the gravy, In a sauce pan, add butter and cook until it starts to bubble and brown slightly.
Whisk in flour and add both beef and chicken broths.
Add black pepper, salt, thyme and rosemary if adding.
Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer for 2 minutes.
Whisk together the cornstarch and milk and add to gravy.
Whisk until mixture starts to thicken slightly.
Pour gravy over potatoes, top with desired amount of gravy and desire amount of cheese curds.
If adding popcorn chicken, add that too.
Optional step: Turn the oven on broil and stick the poutine under the broiler for 2 minutes for melted cheese.
