Ingredients
2cupsflour
1tablespoonbaking powder
1/2cupsugar
1/2teaspoonsalt
6tablespoonscold butter
1egg
1/2cupmilk or cream
1/2teaspoonorange extract or 3 drops of orange oil
1orange zested
1/2cupfresh cranberries - cut in half OR 1/4 cup dried cranberries
Glaze
1/4cuporange juiceadd more for a thinner consistency
1cuppowdered sugar
Pinchof salt
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400 F.
Add the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt to a mixing bowl and mix together.
Add in the cold butter and quickly work into the flour mixture, keeping the butter as cold as possible, mix until flour has pea to marble sized butter pieces mixed in.
Add the egg, milk or cream, orange extract, orange zest and cranberries into the bowl and mix until the a dough forms.
On a lightly floured surface, add dough and form into a disc shape then slice into 8 to 10 wedges, depending on the size of scones you would like.
Place wedges onto a greased or lined cookie sheet and bake for roughly 12 minutes or until scones are turning golden on the edges and bottoms.
Mix together the glaze by adding all ingredients into a bowl and whisking.
Drizzle tops of scones with glaze and enjoy warm or at room temperature.
