onion rings

Delicious fried onion rings!

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion
  • For flour mixture:
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • For egg mixture:
  • 2 Eggs
  • For milk mixture:
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 tablespoon pickle juice
  • ~4 cups vegetable oil - for frying

Instructions

  • Grab 3 large bowls.
  • In one bowl combine the flour, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt and black pepper.
  • In another bowl, whisk 2 eggs.
  • In another bowl, add egg, milk and pickle juice.
  • Slice the onion into ~1 inch rounds. Take out the smaller middle sections unless you want to bread and fry them too.
  • Dip onions in flour mixture.
  • Then dip into egg mixture.
  • Back into flour mixture.
  • Into milk mixture then back into flour mixture.
  • Set aside until you are ready to cook them.
  • Repeat with each onion ring until all of the onion rings are coated.
  • Heat oil in a pan until it is 350 F. to 375 F.. helpful tip: place a popcorn kernel in the oil and when it pops you are ready to cook.
  • Place onion rings into the oil and cook until the outside begins to brown, flip it over and cook until the other side is brown as well. This may take a little practice to get the perfect cook.
  • Set cooked onion rings on a paper towel lined dish and keep in a warm oven until all of the rings are cooked and you are ready to eat.
