Sautéed Apples with Chicken Sausages

This recipe for sautéed apples with chicken sausages makes for a great meal! The sautéed apples and caramelized onions with bacon bits give this meal a hearty and delicious flavor and pop of sweetness.

I created this recipe during my “heritage week” on my Instagram, where I was celebrating my Swedish heritage. I am predominantly Swedish with ancestors who came from Sweden on both sides of my family lines.

My DNA seemed to get the Swedish coloring and high cheek bones, as well as my love for caraway seeds, pickled foods, savory meats, sweet, sour, herby flavor combinations. I also have been asked if I was Swedish based on how I make my cinnamon rolls by someone who lived in Sweden once when they didn’t know my heritage. Which, I took it as a compliment.

For this recipe I use pre-made chicken sausages and add the sautéed apple and onion mixture on top and it really makes for a yummy and hearty meal with a little nod to my Swedish ancestry.
