Chocolate Chip Scones with Vanilla Frosting

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup salted butter - cold
  • 1 cup chocolate chips - semi- sweet milk or dark will work
  • 1 cup milk
  • vanilla frosting:
  • 1/4 cup salted butter - softened
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 16 ounces powdered sugar 1 pound bag
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 F.
  • Add flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into a mixing bowl and mix together.
  • Add cold butter into flour and mix it into flour so you have pebble sized chunks throughout the mixture.
  • Add the chocolate chips or chunks to the mixture and mix them into flour mixture.
  • Add the milk and stir until dough forms and comes together.
  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a baking sheet. lightly grease parchment with non-stick spray.
  • Divide dough into 12 balls and gently press them down, into a disc or round.
  • Bake for 12-14 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and let them cool mostly, they can be kind of warm when you frost them.
  • In a bowl, mix together the butter, milk, powdered sugar, vanilla and salt and blend until smooth.
  • Frost each scone and enjoy!
