Grilled Gyro Burgers

Delicious gyros with a tender and juicy hamburger center.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • /2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup panko or bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoons milk
  • For the tzatziki sauce:
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 cucumber - peeled seeds removed
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill or 3 tablespoons fresh dill
  • Dash of sugar optional
  • Toppings:
  • sliced cucumber
  • tomatoes
  • Kalamata olives
  • red onions
  • pepperoncini peppers
  • bell peppers
  • feta
  • 6 pitas

Instructions

  • Preheat grill to 400 F.
  • In a large bowl, add ground hamburger, oregano, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, panko or bread crumbs and milk and mix together until well combined.
  • Form into 6 long rectangular patties
  • Grill for about 10-15 minutes or until hamburgers are to desired cook.
  • To make the tzatziki sauce; add all ingredients to a blender or food processor and blend until combined.
  • Add hamburgers to a pita with desired toppings and top with tzatziki sauce.
