Marinara Tomato Soup

Easy gourmet tomato soup using jarred marinara sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 - 24 ounce jar marinara sauce
  • 24 ounces water - I use the marinara sauce jar to measure this
  • 12 ounces milk - fill the marinara jar half full to measure
  • 2 tablespoons sugar - more or less to taste
  • 1/2-1 teaspoon salt - start with 1/2 teaspoon then taste at the end and adjust. This amount will vary with different marinara sauces.
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Add marinara sauce, water, milk, salt and sugar to a pot and bring to a boil.
  • Mix together the cornstarch and water in a small bowl and whisk slurry into simmering soup.
  • Stir in the grated parmesan, remove from heat and serve.
