Marinara Tomato Soup

This marinara tomato soup is a gourmet version of tomato soup. It uses a jar of marinara sauce to create and deliciously creamy and flavorful tomato soup in just a few minutes.

You can pick the flavor profile by the marinara sauce you choose. I would suggest you get your favorite brand of marinara and then turn it into this creamy and delicious tomato soup.

I also love that you can choose the sugar levels in this soup. If you want to make a lower sugar soup, I would suggest getting a no sugar added marinara sauce and then adjusting this recipes sugar to the level you want.

Serves 4 -6

  • 1 – 24 ounce jar marinara sauce
  • 24 ounces water – I use the marinara sauce jar to measure this
  • 12 ounces milk – fill the marinara jar half full to measure
  • 2 tablespoons sugar – more or less to taste
  • 1/2-1 teaspoon salt – start with 1/2 teaspoon then taste at the end and adjust. This amount will vary with different marinara sauces.
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Add marinara sauce, water, milk, salt and sugar to a pot and bring to a boil.
  2. Mix together the cornstarch and water in a small bowl and whisk slurry into simmering soup.
  3. Stir in the grated parmesan, remove from heat and serve.
