Sheet Pan Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

These sheet pan grilled cheese sandwiches could not be any easier or more perfectly toasted on both sides with the cheese nice and melty in the center.

I call this my busy mom hack but it works for entertaining a large group just as well. If you are hosting a party or get together and don’t want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen these are fantastic!

Plus, who doesn’t love a grilled cheese sandwich! Even most vegan’s I know love them and this can be made with a vegan cheese substitute and vegan butter.

These can be made in the oven or on a grill. I love to use the grill in the summer or when your oven is occupied.

What you need to make these sheet pan grilled cheese sandwiches:

Makes 12 sandwiches

  • 24 slices of bread
  • 1/3 cup salted butter
  • 8 ounces Monterey Jack cheese – shredded
  • 8 ounces cheddar – shredded

Instructions

  1. Heat oven or grill to 400 F.
  2. Use half of the butter and heavily grease a cookie sheet.
  3. Add 12 slices of bread to the cookie sheet, top bread with shredded Monterey Jack and cheddar then top with remaining bread.
  4. Heavily grease the other sheet pan and place it on top.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes, carefully flip over the sheet pans while pressed together and bake or grill for another 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven or grill, loosen the edges of the sandwiches if the cheese is sticking to the pan, then flip onto a cutting board. Serve whole or slice into halves and serve. We love ours dipped in tomato soup.
