Ingredients

  • 9 eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 3 1/2 cups frozen hash browns
  • 1 cup cooked sausage
  • 1/2 cup bacon bits
  • For cheddar biscuit top:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 4 tablespoons butter - cold
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • For the country gravy:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 375 F.
  • In a bowl, add eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, and hot sauce and whisk together until smooth.
  • Pour into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
  • Add hash browns on top of egg mixture.
  • Add sausage and bacon.
  • In a large bowl, add flour, salt and baking powder and stir together.
  • Add cold butter and cut into the dough, so you have pea size or bigger butter chunks in your flour mixture.
  • Add cheese and mix.
  • Add milk and mix until a biscuit dough forms.
  • Add chunks of dough across the tops of the sausage and bacon.
  • Bake for 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes. Loosely cover top after 45 minutes if top is getting too browned. Insert a toothpick in center and when it comes out clean it's baked though.
  • While breakfast bake is cooling, on the stove top, add butter, and flour to a pan over medium high heat.
  • When butter melts and starts to brown, whisk in milk.
  • Add salt and pepper and bring to a boil until it thickens and a gravy forms.
  • Pour gravy over the breakfast bake and serve with additional hot sauce.
