The Best Buttercream Frosting

The Best Buttercream Frosting

If you’ve been to my website before you know how I feel about calling things “the Best”….. they truly have to earn it, through years of use and multiple reviews! This recipe for the best buttercream frosting earns it! I have been making buttercream frosting for years and this one always gets rave reviews. It’s sweet but not too sweet or over powering, it’s silky and buttery and no one wants to scrape it off to get to the cake or cookies underneath. My kids like to eat it with a spoon and so would I if I could. It also frosts a cake well! It’s my go to birthday cake and sugar cookie frosting.

Here is what you need

Makes enough to frost a 3 layer, 9 inch round cake.

1 stick softened salted butter

1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

1 2 lb (32 ounces) bag of powder sugar

1 tablespoon Vanilla extract

Generous pinch of salt, probably around 1/8th of a teaspoon for those who need exact measurements.

In a mixing bowl with a whisk attachment or using a mixer with a whisk attachment. Add the butter, powdered sugar, salt and vanilla and begin mixing on low, while you slowly pour the heavy whipping cream to the mixture. Move speed up to high and beat until soft fluffy peaks form. If you desire a color add it along with the whipping cream.
