Grilled Maple Butter Salmon

This grilled maple butter salmon is delicious! It’s tender, the seasonings highlight the salmon’s flavor and it’s slightly sweet, perfectly salty, smokey, buttery and finger licking good! My whole family loves it and it is perfect for entertaining as well! It’s also fairly simple to make and requires minimal ingredients.

If cooking on a pellet grill like I do, use cedar or a mild flavored wood, like apple, maple, cherry, etc. for the best smokey flavor that will blend well with the fish.

This dish would taste amazing next to some grilled corn, roasted potatoes (here’s my herb de provence Potato Wedges RECIPE HERE) , side salad, pasta salad (Here is my easy Italian pasta salad RECIPE HERE) or seasoned rice (here is my easy instant pot seasoned rice RECIPE HERE).

What you need to make this grilled maple butter salmon:

Serves 6

  • 1 large salmon fillet – ~3 pounds
  • 1/2 cup salted butter – melted
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup – preferably real maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to 400 F.
  2. Add salmon fillet to parchment paper lined baking pan.
  3. Sprinkle fish with salt and pepper.
  4. Add half of the melted butter to the salmon and place on the grill.
  5. Grill for roughly 15-20 minutes or until fish is roughly 70 percent cooked, It will feel gelatinous still in the thickest parts of the fish.
  6. Mix together the remaining 1/4 cup butter, soy sauce, and maple syrup and pour over the cooking salmon, it will run off the sides so use a spoon to pour it back over the fish the best you can, it’s perfectly fine that some will be on the sides of the pan.
  7. Continue cooking for 5 to 10 minutes more or until fish is cooked through, it will feel firm but still moist and soft when pressed on and the ridges will flake or pull apart if pressed on.
