Vegan Protein Shake (No Protein Powder)

This vegan protein shake (no protein powder) is super delicious and packed with protein but has no protein powder! I personally don’t love the taste of protein powder and vegan protein powder always feels a bit gritty on my palate. So I created this recipe that is creamy, vegan and dairy free and most importantly, it’s smooth and delicious!

How much protein is in this shake?

This recipe makes ~26 ounces and has 15.9 grams of protein in it, when using oat milk, other milk alternatives will also work and may fluctuate the protein up or down a gram depending on the milk.

There is no pea protein used in this recipe and this recipe is also nut free and gluten free. The protein in this shake actually comes from tofu and hemp seeds. Before you squirm away from hearing the word tofu, I can promise you that you can not tell tofu is in this shake.

Tofu takes on the flavors of what it is mixed with so it just blends right in without drawing any attention to it. It’s a great source of protein, especially to those who are on a vegan diet.

This shake has roughly 293 calories or 26 ounces, when using creamy oat milk and honey as a sweetener. This again will fluctuate with the milk alternative used.

What you need to make this vegan protein shake (no protein powder):

Makes ~26 ounces

  • 12 ounces oat milk – I love creamy oat milk, or milk alternative of choice
  • 4 ounces firm tofu – liquid drained
  • 1 tablespoon hemp seeds/hemp hearts
  • 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
  • 1 heaping cup of ice
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sweetener of choice

Instructions

  1. In a blender, add oat milk or preferred milk alternative, tofu, hemp seeds, cocoa powder, ice and honey or sweetener of choice.
  2. Blend until smooth and enjoy.
