Chicken Bacon Avocado Salad

This chicken bacon avocado salad is such a classic and delicious set of flavors! Tender chicken, crispy bacon, crisp cucumbers, juicy tomatoes, silky avocado, red onions to keep things vibrant and creamy ranch dressing to bring it all together. It’s a classic for a reason!

For the chicken, you can use rotisserie chicken breast, which is my favorite way to quickly get roasted chicken or you can bake any chicken breast, use grilled chicken, precooked frozen chicken or even canned chicken breast if you were in a pinch.

For this recipe the bacon is always going to be best cooked for the salad, no way around that, however, if you don’t have any or don’t have the time or energy to do that, you can use bacon bits in their place. You are also more than welcome to use turkey bacon!

I have included my ranch dressing recipe, however, feel free to use whatever ranch you love if making the dressing seems intimidating or like an extra step you don’t feel like taking.

I am a Ranch snob and honestly only like a few brands of ranch dressing, wild coyote is a Utah classic and it’s my favorite store bought ranch.

What you need to make this turkey bacon avocado salad: (printable recipe card is below)

Serves 2 as a side or 1 as a main entrée

For homemade ranch dressing:

Instructions

  1. To make the dressing; add all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth, set aside.
  2. Cook bacon and break into about 1 inch chunks.
  3. To make the salad; In a medium serving bowl or dish, add mixed greens or spring mix, cucumber, red onion slices, tomatoes, bacon, avocado and chicken.
  4. Add ranch dressing of choice or homemade dressing per salad in desired amount.
  5. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2 generous handfuls spring mix or mixed greens
  • 1/2 cup cucumber – peeled and diced
  • 2 red onion slices left in rounds
  • 1 small red tomato or ~1/2 cup grape tomatoes cut in half
  • 2 strips cooked bacon – cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1/2 avocado – diced
  • 1/2 cup rotisserie chicken or cooked chicken
  • Favorite Ranch dressing or homemade ranch dressing recipe below

Recipe for Homemade Ranch Dressing:

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley or 1 1/2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
