Chocolate Hazelnut Nutty Buddy Mix

This chocolate hazelnut nutty buddy mix has chocolate hazelnut spread (nutella), toasted coconut, roasted hazelnuts, rice square cereal (Chex cereal), coconut oil and powdered sugar. It’s delicious and the perfect twist on a classic nutty buddy mix.

I love how easy this mix is to put together! It’s the perfect Christmas neighbor or friend gift for the nut lovers in your life. It’s also great for hiking, road trips, when you’re asked to bring a snack to a party, etc.

I also add a nice pinch of salt in this recipe so it’s not overly sweet and it has some balance.

What you need to make this chocolate hazelnut nutty buddy mix:

Makes ~ 8 cups of mix – it will fill 1 large gallon size zip top bag

  • 6 cups rice square cereal (Chex cereal)
  • 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut – toasted or untoasted
  • 1/2 cup roasted hazelnut pieces
  • 1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (Nutella)
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. If toasting coconut, place on a lined cookie sheet and place under broiler for 1-2 minutes or until coconut begins to toast, keep an eye on it, it can brown or burn quickly. Once toasted, remove from oven and add to bowl with cereal.
  2. Add cereal to a bowl with toasted or non-toasted shredded coconut and hazelnuts and mix together.
  3. In a small bowl, add chocolate hazelnut spread and coconut oil and microwave for 30 seconds or until mixture is melted.
  4. Pour over cereal mixture and sprinkle with salt then stir until all of the cereal is coated.
  5. Add powdered sugar and stir until all of the ingredients are coated in powdered sugar.
  6. Enjoy!
