Grilled Chicken Gyros

These grilled chicken gyros are so flavorful and make for a delicious and easy meal! They are filled with an easy grilled Greek chicken, fresh vegetables, like cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, pickled peppers, olives and then feta and tzatziki sauce on top.

I use my Greek Grilled Chicken for these that recipe is HERE. This chicken is coated in yogurt and then grilled. It stays super moist and tender from the yogurt and the seasoning chars around the chicken, giving it amazing flavor.

I have listed my favorite toppings for gyros but you can add whatever you love the most to these. I also have a recipe for my easy tzatziki sauce at the bottom of this post and you will find the recipe card for everything I talk about in this recipe at the bottom as well as in the post.

The tzatziki sauce will serve 4, so if you are a huge fan of tzatziki like me, you may want to double the recipe.

Here is that you need to make these grilled chicken gyros: (printable recipes are below)

Makes 4-6 gyros

  • 1 1/2 pounds Greek grilled chicken – recipe here (recipe card is also at the bottom of the page)
  • 6 pita breads
  • 1 large cucumber – diced
  • 1 large tomato – sliced
  • 1/2 small red onion – thinly sliced
  • 1 can black olives – sliced
  • 1 jar sliced pepperoncini peppers
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese crumbled
  • Kalamata olives (optional)
  • Tzatziki sauce or Ranch dressing (recipe card for tzatziki is below)

Simple Tzatziki Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/4 of a cucumber peeled, seeds removed and finely diced
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • pinch of salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Grill the chicken according to recipe directions then cut into bite sized pieces or strips.
  2. Mix together all of the tzatziki sauce or ranch dressing and set aside.
  3. Prepare all of the vegetables and toppings for these gyros.
  4. Build the gyros with all your desired toppings and then top with sauce of choice.
  5. Enjoy!

Greek Grilled Chicken

Tender and juicy Greek inspired grilled chicken that is delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 tablespoon poultry seasoning
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice or about 1/4 a lemon juiced

Instructions

  • Preheat grill or smoker to 400 F.
  • In a large bowl or dish, add chicken thighs, yogurt, poultry seasoning, salt, black pepper, garlic powder and lemon juice and mix around well so all of the chicken is coated well.
  • Place chicken on grill and grill for roughly 10 minutes per side, depending on the thickness and size of your chicken thighs. Cut one open to make sure it is cooked through or check the temperature and make sure it is 165 F. internally.
  • Serve and enjoy

Simple Tzatziki Sauce

Super simple Tzatziki sauce that goes great on gyros, sandwiches or for dipping.
