Instant Pot Great Northern Beans and Pork

I love this instant pot great northern beans and pork recipe. It’s hearty and comforting and super easy to make in the instant pot.

I use a pork loin roast in this recipe, however, you can also use a pork butt or shoulder or ham and the results will still be delicious, with a slight variation.

There is something wholesome and delicious about a pot of beans with a developed and savory broth. It’s such a humble and unassuming bowl of flavor and nourishment. That appear just feels right, especially on a chilly fall or winter night.

This recipe tastes great with a little cheese sprinkled on top or some sliced avocado, it dresses it up just a little bit. So if you wanted this recipe to be a little fancier, those are great options.

What you need to make these great northern beans and pork: (printable recipe is below)

Serves 6-8

  • 1 onion – diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 16 ounces dried great northern beans – rinse and cleaned
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 18 ounces pork loin roast or pork cut of choice
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 48 ounces chicken broth or 6 cups
  • 1/4 cup bacon bits
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Add diced onion to the instant pot with the olive oil and turn it onto sauté and cook until onion begins to soften.
  2. Add the rinsed beans, garlic powder, salt, poultry seasoning, black pepper, pork loin or pork cut of choice, tomato sauce chicken broth, bacon bits, and water.
  3. Cook on high for 35 minutes with a natural release.
  4. Remove pork and shred or chop them add back into broth, stir and enjoy.
